Food for thoughts about Feng Shui books
It’s only natural for anybody who is interested in Feng Shui to read Feng Shui related books. What I consider not appropriate is that after reading a few books, some people are ready to give advices and worst, recommend remedies and cures publicly.
You may ask: What’s wrong with that? Why don’t you agree? Well, simply because Feng Shui is very simple and yet very complex. There’s a lot of factors to be taken into consideration… for sure there is no rigid rules. and one plus one does not equal to two, it can equal to 3 or X or Y in metaphysics.
I do, however, encourage people to take the initiative to experiment what they have understood from the books at home. Until they are convinced that it has helped or improved their situation, I would abstain from giving any open recommendations. Most of the reliable practitioners have either conducted experiments themselves, if not, the remedies are experimented by their classmates/colleagues and proven fruition.
It is important then, that if you are seriously interested in Feng Shui, you should go further by attending classes offered by a good teacher. In this case, you will learn the underlying techniques and how to fine-tune the problem areas which are usually not included in the Feng Shui books.

Jeannie, I completely agree with you. When you have the depth and breath on feng shui knowledge, you will be very scary of those that read a few books and start making recommendation. Even those that have attended a course or two, I think they are still not ready.
Feng Shui may look like a science subject when we study the formula. But when we start practicing, it is an art over the formula. The subject may be simple but the practice is not easy. It is really more complicated than most people think.
Lastly, let comment that “A medical doctor can cure or kill a person” but “A Feng Shui Consultant can save or destroy the whole family” and “A Feng Shui Teacher can save or destroy a whole nation”
