Flowers and potted Plants

Flowers and potted plants in our home not only beautify our living space, they also bring life and growth to the occupants. I prefer potted plants because they are easy to maintain, also plants with nice rounded leaves as opposed to sharp pointed leaves. Cut flowers are acceptable provided you change the water daily and throw them away as soon as they withered. The colors of the flowers and plants play an important role as well, for example, in the east and southeast sectors of the house which belong to the wood element under the Five Elements theory, white flowers are not too welcoming here because they do not encourage the smooth qi flow in these two sectors. Dark blue and red color plants are more suitable here. Remember? Feng Shui is all about balance and harmony in our living space.
What is considered clutter?
We all know that we cannot avoid collecting clutter; it is like dust sneaking under the sofas or gathered on top of our beautiful furniture. We clean our houses ever so often, so must we clear the clutter from time to time.
Look into your cupboards, chest of drawers, kitchen drawers, garage shelves, wardrobes, attic, under the beds, and any place where you piled up boxes of stuff which you can’t bear to throw away. I bet you will find a lot of junk which you have collected unconsciously through years of your life. So get started… throw out or give away the bits and pieces that you haven’t used to date. The broken tools and apparatus that will never get fixed; toys from when your children were young; old clothes and shoes; old magazines, newspaper, brochures, the list can go on.
Equally important is your emotional clutter… throw away those old love letters, photos of old loves, especially anything that reminds you of the bad times.
Once you’ve gone through that, you’ll be surprised to find that your house brightens up immediately, you will feel more comfortable and peaceful. This is simply because the stagnant energies are now replaced by the fresh energies and flowing freely. Now you know J
Wu lou or Calabash
Here’s a picture of Wu lou that I use to counter the sickness star #2 in the Flying Star Feng Shui. As a matter of fact, I have several wu lous in my house… I put one in the North-East sector (home of star #2 in the current Period 8 – from February 2004 to February 2024) of our house; another one in the North-West sector for 2008 where annual star #2 resides, and which I will move to the West sector where the star #2 will be located next February; I have a third one which I move monthly to the different sector according to the Monthly Flying Star, for example it is in the South-East sector for this month. Finally, I also place one each on our children’s and our night tables to ensure good health.
This is no superstition and can be explained by Yi Jing (The Book of Changes). Master Joseph Yu has written an article on this, just click on the following link if you’re interested:

Free E-book

A question of interpretation…
A friend emailed me the following story… “Two wolves”
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.
One is Evil.. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?’
The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one you feed.’

Auspicious dates
I was looking at my calendar and wow… we have four consecutive auspicious days this week:
The given hours must be respected to gain maximum effects. Good luck
Monthly star 5 & Annual Star 2
On June 6, I woke up with a sore throat. It took me a couple of days to realize that the Monthly star 5 is meeting annual star 2 in the NW sector this solar month starting June 5 at 4:12pm to end on July 7 at 2:35am. This NW direction happens to be our bedroom. So if your bedroom, living room, dining room, study, any or most of your activities is found in this NW area, please try to keep it as calm as possible. Remove red color or triangular shape objects as they would stimulate the earth energies of these two stars, thus aggravating the situation. I also suggest placing a metal wu lou here. You can also place five golden balls in a golden basket to pacify star 5.
May you have good health

Dear subscribers and readers,
Are you aware of sharp edges pointing at you?
If you take some time to look around you, your house, or just anywhere, you are sure to notice that there are sharp edges pointing in every direction. What’s important is that we don’t want them to be pointing directly at us, at our bed, at our desk, or at our main door.
If you were invited to a friend’s house for dinner, and you were seated at a place where a sharp edge is pointing at you; don’t panic! This is just temporary and will not do you any harm. However, if the edge of a square pillar in your home is pointing at your angle where you sit daily, then you should be more concerned. Other examples can be like the corner of your dining table, the edge of your colleague’s table, a neighbor’s roof, etc., etc.
Here are some tips to avoid and smoothen these sharp pointing edges or arrows:
- use table cloth to cover up the corners;
- round up the sharp edges;
- place a green plant or a solid object;
- hang a beautiful painting;
- cover it with a reflective material like mirrors, provided the surrounding is beautiful;
- wrap it with soft materials with beautiful colors;
- if it’s a pillar, you could replaster it to make it a round column;
- this list is not exhaustive.
You can be very creative here as long as it shields off these sharp pointing edges/arrows. If you have other creative ideas, I would be glad to hear from you.
