  Needless to say, a good exterior Feng Shui can assist and promote good interior house Feng Shui.  So it is important that you maintain a clean, neat and beautiful garden (with or without a water feature) in your backyard or on your balcony.

A quick apology for not being active in the past couple of weeks, I can feel the fast pace of Dragon year upon me.   Now I’m looking forward to a well-deserved holiday starting tomorrow and for a week.

  One of my blogpost readers asked if I could tell her, based on her Bazi chart, the character and background of her other half and what would he be like.

 First of all, Bazi reading is not fortune-telling.  The exact birth data of a person is required to establish a bazi chart, based on the elements contained therein, we can then proceed to read the chart and reveal the information relating to this person.  

No doubt, Bazi practitioners can tell one’s spousal relationship from the four pillars of a bazi chart.  We can even go further by saying if it would be an early or late marriage; at which time frame one would meet the spouse-to-be; the potential conflict; the influence over your other half; etc..

However, to read your other half’s character and relationship with you, it is vital to know this person’s birth data, without which, no tangible information can be exposed.

 In my last blogpost, I mentioned Ba Gua (八卦 = 8 Trigrams) mirrors, so let’s try to get acquainted with the Ba Gua.  The Ba Qua originated from ancient Yijing, also known as The Book of Change.  I won’t go into details here.

 Essentially, there are two types of Ba Gua, one is known as Xian Tian (先天) Ba Gua; literally means the Early Heaven Ba Gua, or born naturally Ba Gua.  It represents a perfect balance of natural and human energy forces.  The second one is known as Hou Tian (后天) Ba Gua; literally means the Later Heaven Ba Gua, or a re-arrangement of the Early Heaven Ba Gua to reflect the natural energy flow from the eight different directions. 

In the practice of Feng Shui, the Hou Tian Ba Gua (image above) is used more frequently.  A trigram is made up of three lines, it can be a complete line ___ or a broken line _ _.  The 8 trigrams carry 8 different names (namely: Qian, Dui, Li, Zhen, Kun, Gen, Kan, Xun).  These 8 trigrams also represent 8 compositions (Heaven, Marsh, Fire, Thunder, Earth, Mountain, Water, and Wind); 8 directions (Northwest, West, South, East, Southwest, Northeast, North, and Southeast); 8 family members (Father, Younger daughter, Middle daughter, and Eldest son, Mother, Younger son, Middle son, and Eldest daughter); 8 body parts (head, mouth, heart, liver, Stomach, hands, kidneys, thighs); 4 seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter); and 8 numbers (6, 7, 9, 3, 2, 8, 1, 4).

For information, Yijing has a total of 64 Hexagrams, and each of the hexagram is a combination of two trigrams.  

  Are mirrors good or bad Feng Shui?  Well, it depends.  I rather you read on and be your own judge 

Mirrors must be hung flat against the wall.  It is vital to observe the kind of image reflected in the mirror.  The image being reflected must be beautiful; do not reflect an unsightly or undesirable view as the effect of Sha Qi (negative energy) will be intensified.  

Do not place too many mirrors in a room because the yang energy can cause confusion and lack of stability.  Likewise, do not place a mirror where there is a direct glare from the sun or lighting.   Clearly, drawing in good qi (energy) for wealth would be most beneficial; unfortunately, if you do not know the type of qi around your house, you could unconsciously draw in argumentative or harmful qi as well.  So be attentive and make a note of how life is treating you before and after the placement of your mirror.

If you experienced difficulties or problems as a result of

1) A bathroom or toilet directly facing the front door
2) the bathroom or toilet at the end of the hallway opposite the front door
3) a bedroom and bathroom door opposite each other
or 4) a bathroom and kitchen door opposite each other

It is advisable to hang a mirror on the outside of the bathroom door.

Do not hang mirrors in a child’s bedroom because when waking up in the night, they are often terrified, and confronted by the image in the mirrors would make things worse.

Do not hang the mirrors at the foot of the bed or either side of the bed, especially for married couples.  This would appear as if a third person is in bed, it is believed that marital problems would arise; and rather alarming leading to an eventual divorce.   If you cannot remove the already installed mirrors, cover the mirrors with a drape or curtain while you sleep. 

The Chinese people love to place a mirror near the dining table reflecting the food or a large basket of fruits as they believe this will “double” the quantities and bring abundance.   

How about a Ba Gua mirror?  A Ba Qua mirror always comes with green, red, and gold; the known auspicious colors.  It must be surrounded by the 8 Trigrams originated from the ancient Yijing (The Book of Change) to reflect the excellence of Heaven.   By the way, Ba Qua literally means the 8 Trigrams.  It is used to hang exclusively outside a building, typically above a front door or any main entrance, where there is a source of Sha Qi (negative energy) directing towards the building or main entrance.  Never hang a Ba Qua mirror inside a building or your home as it is believed to bring misfortune.

Lately I have many requests for free readings and advices.  It is quite possible that Yang Water Dragon is displaying it's vibrant energy already

  The Peach Blossom Star (also known as Star of Romance) is one of the highlights in many Bazi practitioners’ predictions for this Water Dragon year, that You (Rooster) in the hour pillar will bring undesirable romances and infidelity. 

In my humble opinion, the valid question should be: who will really be affected by the Peach Blossom Star this year?

In my blogpost last year, I mentioned that when the Star of Romance appears in the hour pillar of a Bazi natal chart, it is termed as external Star of Romance, and it can indicate the possibilities of engaging in new exciting love affairs which may create distress and sorrow for married couples.

  This is a postcard picture I bought when I visited the Victoria Falls in Zambia a few years ago, this demonstrates clearly the image of Ren Chen (壬辰) year – massive water above the earth.  Do you see the empowering effect?  What does it mean to you?  Yes, you’re right, there is a risk of flooding if not already being flooded and flushed away.   This more or less will give us a general picture of what we can envisage for the year 2012. 

A quick reminder, Ren Chen year will start on Febraury 4^th, 2012 based on the Solar calendar.  Here's the general belief of the Chinese people.
