What you must know
2010 Annual Flying Stars
February 4, 2010 – February 4, 2011

GENERAL TIPS:
1. Yin (Tiger) is the Tai Sui (aka God of the year or Grand Duke Jupiter) of the year and occupies NE3 direction (52.5° to 67.5°). Do not challenge him by facing him when you’re seated. Instead, sit with him behind you to gain his support.
2. The 5 Yellow (or Wu Wang aka star #5) enjoys peace and quiet, if your main door is located in the southwest, you should try using another door. If this is not feasible, use metal cure playing pure piano music or strike your singing bowl daily.
3. The 3 Killings are located in the north this year and contrary to the Tai Sui, you must always face them.
4. Shen (Monkey) is the Year Breaker and is in direct conflict with Yin (Tiger), the Tai Sui of the year, as shown in the diagram.
5. Remember that you should keep the southwest and north sectors quiet and peaceful, with minimum activities and noise this year. Do not undertake any renovation, digging, construction or demolition work in the above mentioned sectors without the advice from your Feng Shui Consultants.
In addition:
Sickness Star # 2 is located in the Northeast, if you’d spend a lot of time here or if this is your bedroom, don’t forget to place a wu lou (calabash) for good health.
Star # 3 is in the South sector. This star represents conflicts, disputes, etc. Piyao is a good placement to ward off the negative energy.
The fortunate star # 8 is housed in the center. You probably are aware that this year’s flying stars are the same as the period star. The positive or negative energies would be doubled… the month of May would be most challenging because the stars will be repeated a third time. Meanwhile, I suggest you locate and make good use of the monthly star #8 to maximize your luck and good fortune.
This is a general guideline; please do not jump to conclusion. The stars are not simply good or bad. There are other factors to be taken into consideration when assessing the energies. For example; the external landforms will determine the quality of the stars, the interactions of the energies and stars of your residence, the Bazi (Four Pillars of Destiny) charts of the occupants will indicate the impact of the luck periods, so on and so forth.
To put your mind at ease… sickness star 2, when activated correctly, can bring you success and fortune if you’re working in the medical field. Likewise, Star 3 can be good if you’re an attorney.
If you have questions or would like to purchase the wu lou (for sickness star) or piyao (for protection), please email me.
All the best for a healthy, happy and successful Tiger year!
How to calculate your Gua number?
Here are a few steps to follow on how to calculate your Gua number:
1. Add up the digits of your birth year based on Solar year, bearing in mind that the Solar year always start and end on 4/5 February of each year (if you were born on or around 4/5 February… do check with me to make sure you use the correct year of birth for your calculation). Then reduce it to get a single digit.
e.g. if you were born on
You will get 1+9+5+9=24 = 6
2. For a male – subtract the number from 11
e.g. 11 – 6 = 5
Your Gua number is 2 (see note below)
3. For a female – add 4 to the number
e.g. 4 + 6 = 10 = 1
Your Gua number is 1
Note: If your final digit is 5:
For a male, convert 5 to 2
For a female, convert 5 to 8

How to take correct facing direction of your house?
It is vital to know the exact facing direction of your house prior to implementing any cures or placing any remedies, especially for flying star applications.
First of all, here’s a picture of a not too expensive compass as a basic tool.
Once you got this instrument or something similar, you can take the degree of your house/apartment's facing. As a general guide and reference, you can use the door facing the road, or your main door entrance in a house, or your main building entrance if you’re located below 9 floors, or the “yangest” (that gives a lot of yang energy) side of your unit, usually, it is your balcony if above 9th floor of a building.
Whichever of the above you’ve chosen as your reference point, here's what you have to do to measure the correct facing direction of your house.
Stand about 3 meters (about 9 ft.) away from your main entrance or building, use the compass and take a reading away from cars, electric lamp posts, or any metallic devises which will influence the compass reading. Do it twice to make sure you have the same reading both times.
If readings differ, then stand at one corner of your building/house and follow the step mentioned above. When this is done, turn 90 degrees to your left or right and take the measurement again. The difference between these two readings should be 90 degrees.
Good luck!
